Bryan has high hopes for this site.
Middle schooler Bryan Cooper said he can’t wait to tell his friends about a nearby abandoned building where men in protective clothing recently posted signs declaring it a “Superfun Site.”
“I’m not sure what’s inside yet, but it’s got to be super cool because why else would they put up signs like that?” said Bryan, 12, who acknowledged he’s been held back a few grades for poor reading skills. “Plus, they put it in capital letters, which means it’s like, extra fun.”
Bryan, who attends Bridgewater-Raritan Middle School in Bridgewater, said there were other words on the signs but he stopped reading after the first couple of words. He also said he’s been inside the building before but didn’t think it was that fun.
“There were all kinds of metal drums and stuff on the second floor. A few of them had, like, this liquid stuff coming out that smelled sort of like maple syrup. But it didn’t taste like syrup.
“Another time, during the summer, me and Jimmy Cooper set up a ramp to see which one of us could jump our bikes farthest into this pond out behind the building. Yeah, that was before Jimmy’s hair fell out and he died.”
Bryan said he saw some men moving big crates into the building using a forklift and he’s pretty sure from the shape of the boxes that they contained video games for an arcade.
“That’s one of the only things I can think of that would make it a superfun site,” he said. “I hope they’re putting in a Need for Speed racing game. And a Rambo: First Blood with machine guns.
“Because with this extra thumb that grew onto my left hand, I’m pretty good with the buttons.”
